Physical Therapist hired as an Independent Contractor (1099) at Dr. Megan Mullin Physical Therapy. As an independent contractor you will be paid per each hour working with a patient at a rate starting around $35 per hour. At Dr. Megan Mullin Physical Therapy there are also opportunities for promotion to a Manager/Clinical Director.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Dr. Megan Mullin Physical Therapy, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to implement and carry out individualized treatment plans. You will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, assisting with therapeutic exercises, and providing valuable input to enhance treatment effectiveness.

We are located inside Kennedy Club Fitness in San Luis Obispo where we have two beautifully designed private offices that allow for a more intimate healing setting for patients. We also have access to all of Kennedy’s state of the art equipment to utilize during sessions. 
 
What makes this job unique is that you will have ultimate freedom, autonomy, and flexibility as a clinician! You decide your schedule- how many patients you want to see, schedule them around your lifestyle, work as many or as few hours that you want. Patient population consists of mostly orthopedic injuries, as well as younger athletes, and medicare population (50/50).

Patient Care:

  • Treat patients one-on-one for 45 mins or 1 hour, whatever your patient needs.
  • Welcome to incorporate aquatic therapy, boxing, yoga, energy work, or other activities into your treatment plans.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with physical therapists to implement treatment plans and interventions designed to address patients’ specific needs.
  2. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and activities of daily living under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist.
  3. Monitor and document patient progress, reporting observations and updates to the supervising physical therapist.
  4. Provide education to patients and their families on prescribed exercises, home programs, and self-care strategies.
  5. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  6. Set up and maintain treatment areas, ensuring a clean and organized environment for therapy sessions.
  7. Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling, record-keeping, and other duties as assigned.
  8. Stay informed about the latest advancements in physical therapy and rehabilitation techniques.

Qualifications:

  1. Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  2. Current California state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  5. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  6. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic exercise principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  2. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  3. Certification in basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
